Empowering Leadership: A Spotlight on Our Female COO this International Women’s Day

In honour of International Women’s Day, we’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on our remarkable Chief Operating Officer, Janette, whose journey embodies the essence of empowering leadership. With over 30 years of experience in operational leadership, Janette has forged a path of success and resilience, making her mark across various sectors.

Janette’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Starting straight from school and diving into her first job, she embarked on a journey of growth and determination, steadily climbing the ranks through hard work and dedication. Her outstanding leadership in the telecoms industry was recognised in 2018 when she was awarded the prestigious Women in Telecoms award by ITP for her transformative impact and exceptional leadership skills.

Since joining our team in 2021, Janette’s leadership has been nothing short of transformative for our organisation. Her visionary approach, coupled with her unwavering commitment to excellence, has propelled us to new heights, inspiring us to reach beyond our limits and strive for greatness.

In celebration of Janette’s remarkable journey and her invaluable contributions to our team, we’re excited to share some empowering advice she has for women:

Janette firmly believes that emotional intelligence lies at the heart of effective leadership, particularly for women. She emphasises the significance of self-awareness, encouraging women to lean into their emotions and instincts. Understanding your own strengths, weaknesses, and emotions not only supports personal growth but also cultivates a deeper understanding of others. In a leadership role, this translates to empathising with team members, clients, and stakeholders, ultimately creating stronger relationships and driving better outcomes. Janette believes that by embracing emotional intelligence, women can harness their innate abilities to navigate complex situations, inspire trust, and lead with authenticity.

As a seasoned leader, Janette recognises the power of collaboration and the importance of empowering her team. She advises women in leadership positions to acknowledge that they don’t have to have all the answers. Instead, creating an environment of trust and autonomy allows team members to thrive. By empowering individuals to take ownership of their work and contribute their unique perspectives, leaders can unlock the full potential of their teams. Janette encourages women to embrace humility, recognising that true strength lies in acknowledging and leveraging the collective intelligence of the team. Through empowerment, women leaders can create a culture of innovation, resilience, and shared success.

Janette advocates for authenticity and humanity in leadership, urging women to embrace their true selves. In a world often dominated by traditional notions of leadership, she believes that showcasing sincerity and genuineness can be transformative. Authentic leaders inspire trust and loyalty by being transparent about their values, motivations, and aspirations. Janette encourages women to embrace their humanity, including vulnerability, as a strength rather than a weakness. By fostering genuine connections and understanding, leaders can create inclusive environments where individuals feel valued and empowered to bring their whole selves to work. Janette’s advice underscores the power of authenticity in building meaningful relationships and driving positive change both within organisations and beyond.

So…

On this International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate the power of empowering leadership and the incredible impact of women like Janette who inspires us to dream big, break barriers, and create a more inclusive and equitable world for all.
